Debbie Rodriguez brings more than two decades of experience in psychology, counseling, trauma-informed care, and human development to Unbridled Equine Programs and The Unbridled Edge. Her work is grounded in a deep curiosity about the brain—how our experiences shape the way we respond, how patterns are formed, and what allows us to respond differently.
That curiosity became personal when Debbie's husband returned from his fourth deployment with significant PTSD. Wanting to understand what was happening in the brain—and why—led Debbie into an extensive study of neuroscience that would ultimately shape both her professional career and the way she teaches today.
Debbie holds a master's degree in Marriage and Family Christian Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, where she now teaches psychology. Her professional experience includes working with soldiers returning from war as they navigated trauma and family reintegration, counseling children and families through STARRY, and continued study in neuroscience, human behavior, and emotional regulation.
Today, Debbie also serves as Executive Director of Nicole's Place, a residential program serving single mothers who have experienced sex trafficking. Across these roles, her work has consistently centered on helping people understand the patterns shaped by their experiences and develop greater awareness of how those patterns influence their lives and relationships.
A lifelong horsewoman, Debbie also operates Rodriguez Rescue Ranch, providing sanctuary for horses that have experienced neglect, abandonment, or abuse. At Unbridled, her understanding of the brain and human behavior comes together with her experience with horses to create experiential learning opportunities where individuals, leaders, and teams can recognize patterns in real time—and discover what they choose to do with that awareness.
